The war in Ukraine, the pandemic, the climate crisis and the questioning of human rights by some member states cause new challenges for cities and for Green politics. In Central Europe, several capitals are governed by progressive and Green Mayors and thus function as "counterbalancing factors" to conservative, populist or "illiberal" governments.
We discuss the role and opportunities of those cities as driving forces towards equality and sustainability.
